We have built capacity to implement next generation sequencing (NGS) using the Illumina MiSeq platform. We offer both Bioinformatics Analysis and Wet Laboratory Genomics including Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) and Targeted Sequencing to in-country disease programmes, other African countries and to individual/research projects. This has been implemented for mostly Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) where Whole genome sequencing is usually carried out for Drug Resistance and Mtb lineage inference which are both of high public health and epidemiological importance. We have also extended this service to a number of other pathogens including Neisseria gonorrhea and HIV. Our plan is to not only contribute to the in-country and regional growth of Tuberculosis Genomics and Bioinformatics but also to other pathogens that are of importance to the region.
